WWII Scrapbook

These are some pictures from a friends Fathers WWII photo scrapbook. He was attached to the Armored Division. I thought they were worth sharing.

Unless noted otherwise all  pictures are from the estate of Sergeant Prospero P. Carelli

Since I have posted these pictures there has been a lot of interest in the Pilsen, CZ  shots. I am adding pictures that were sent to me that show some of the same aircraft at the Airfield in about May of 1945. Please note that unfortunately I cannot allow these pictures for download since they are on "loan" to me and are not mine.

Pilsen , CZ. Airfield around May of 1945

The above show Junkers Ju 87G-2, W.Nr. 494200. Probably part of 10. (Pz)/SG 2 unit. The plane most likely stayed on the airfield during a move of the unit from the south part of the Eastern front to Czech territory in mid April 1945. It is interesting that the unit (SG-2 Schlachtgeschwader 2)  was led by famous German ground-attack pilot Hans-Ulrich Rudel.

This a Arado Ar 96B trainer, part of EKG(J) unit

Junkers Ju 188

Focke-Wulf Fw 190A-7, markings F1 + SW from the same EKG(J) unit.

The above two rows are graciously on loan from Tomas Poruba along with his descriptions.
